Fourth Friday Forest Walks
September 23, 2022 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Led by Chanchal, these types of slow and contemplative walks originated in Japan, where the practice has been around for some time and is known as Shinrin Yoku. Chanchal trained in Japan and wrote her Masters Dissertation on Shinrin Yoku and its natural healing benefits.
“Shirin Yoku is very different to a simple woodland walk, says Chanchal. “Participants often live in the city and don’t have daily access to nature as we do here. On our walks, we meditate together and teach people how to walk in reverent silence, to take in the forest through our senses. We’ll even read some related poetry and practice active nature appreciation. At the end, we’ll have helped people to lower their blood pressure and elevate their moods, and above all, improve their immune systems and reduce their stress.”
The final Fourth Friday Forest Walks for 2022 takes place September 23. There is a cost of $25 per person per session. To register and pay, please call 250-336-8768.
